To me there is nothing better than putting on your favorite pair of jeans and a simple graphic t-shirt. While my wife was in Santa Monica this past week she had some free time to stop at one of my favorite brands (The Hundreds) to pick me up some goodies. I've been following these guys for a couple years now, and they continue to inspire me to create and believe that if we follow what we love doing things will happen.
Here at Stewart James we still have limited quantities left of our color blocking Anchor Hat. We have created this hat as a seasonal color-way that will only be around till their gone. Which means if you miss out you miss out forever.
So enjoy it while you can, and get yours.
I can't wait to show off our new spring/summer hats, our sample photos will be coming very soon. In the mean time here is where our inspiration is coming from, so let your imagination take over till the new hats arrive.
I am not normally a list maker, but a brilliant movie once told me "If you build it they will come." So I'm listening to that movie line and have created a list of where I want Stewart James to go. Some are short term, some long term, some are just things I know as a small company we need to do to continue to grow.
Stay tuned to see where Stewart James will go.
Robert Redford: Because he can just about pull of anything he puts on. With a true American style; a classic look from Mr. Redford would be a pair of blue jeans, a blue oxford shirt underneath a tweed blazer with a pair of glasses.
How to dress like Mr. Redford.
- Jeans - AG Matchbox
- Blue Oxford - Todd Snyder
- Tweed Blazer - GANT by MICHAEL BASTIAN
- Glasses - Warby Parker
As a designer there isn't much more that makes you happier than seeing your creation on happy customers. Here at Stewart James we pride ourselves on making lifestyle designs that you will live in forever. When asked to design some t-shirts for a local school I couldn't turn the offer down.
Below are some very happy kids wearing my concept of a vintage university crest.
Here at Stewart James we love our customers. Without you, we would still be an idea on a cocktail napkin. So because of all your love and support in helping grow our brand, shipping anywhere in the US is on us during Black Friday (Nov.29th)
Thank you for everything!
Winter is upon us here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. But here at Stewart James we've moved on and have started to dream about summer/spring 14. Our inspiration board is beginning to grow with the help of these vintage bears.
Today we remember.
A walk around uptown during my day off from work. Theres something very calming to me when I have my headphones in, cold brew in my hand, and a pace set by myself. Its one of the most beautiful times of year here in Minnesota. So get out and take a stroll around town.
I love sending my hats all over the world. But whats even more gratifying than sending them, is when they send me photos of themselves wearing my hat. Below is Sakolpol Sutthikul he lives in Thailand (7,998 miles from minneapolis) and has amazing style.
Enjoy your hat buddy!
We all go though the pain of waking up and trying to quickly decided what we are going to wear for the day. Does this go with that? Is that one shirt clean? Why are these pants so dang tight this morning? What shoes am I going to wear?
Blah Blah Blah we need to just be ourselves, put on the clothes we know look good on us and ditch the excuses.
"I slept in to late and didn't have time to iron my shirt."
Please, we have all heard plenty of those excuses and they all need to stop, it's time we as start taking a little pride in how we dress.
So I have decided to start documenting what I will be wearing to work. The clothes that I know look good on me, the ones that make me confident, comfortable and most importantly the ones that help create my individual style.
With my last weekend free before the crazy holiday season starts. Here at Stewart James we will be taking the weekend off. We will not be leaving you hanging with nothing to read. So I wanted to show you some of our favorite things to pack while we travel to the lake.
The perfectly packed weekend get away!
My new day off routine since moving to uptown is walking down to my local coffee shop Urban Bean. Not only do they create and brew beautiful cups of coffee but you walk in and just feel welcomed. Promptly greeted by incredible chalk art by Bear Fox Chalk on the super-sized chalk board. The smell, oh the smell it brings tears to my eyes and a chill down my back that begs me for a cup of joe. Everyone working, reading their book, or meeting friends and enjoying themselves so much it makes me believe there's something in the coffee.
Head over to one of their locations and try this local coffee shop yourself. I promise you will be finding yourself making more than just one trip.
The best feeling in the world is when we receive fan mail about how much our customers love their product. I love seeing how everyone's wearing their hats, and how each individual style's themselves differently. Send me your photo of yourself wearing our hat, and maybe you will be featured on our blog!

You know when people say "You can dress is up, or you can dress it down", well that's a lie. But there is one thing you can do that with and it's that blue blazer found in your closet.
For example: You can definitely wear your blue blazer with your pin point dress shirt and a repp tie. Creating that classic preppy dress outfit. Or you can dress is down with a t-shirt and jeans with a pair of great nike sneakers.
With the weather changing over night, my style personally upgrades by 100%. I love the fall/winter season here in Minnesota for a couple reasons. First reason is because of the colors. Everyone knows that when the leafs change Minnesota becomes very attractive. The second reason is I personally get to pull out off my heavy weight sweaters, jackets, wool socks, boots, wool hats to create a stunning layered look each and everyday.
