On a past day off of work, I walked around our local lakes. The recent polar vortex within the Midwest states had launched my most recent adventure.
The Birch Tree pictured below, shows the beautiful layers of fresh grays and white, with snow perfectly covering the two arms. With the high outside only at -7 degrees, the blue sky instantly warms my face, making spring not seem as far away after all.
Once again the pinterest book of recipes made our night tastefully beautiful! We ran to our nearest Lunds, picked up a freshly baked loaf of bread, three perfectly red tomatoes and a stick of mozzarella. This tomato, mozzarella bruschetta only takes 20 minutes, zero effort and plenty to pack up for lunches later in the week.
Growing up and living here in Minnesota we live and die on the ice. But when the temperatures are continuously fluttering below zero degrees we sit in the warming house waiting for the next time to drop the puck.
Living in Minnesota I've come to love watching the different seasons come and go. There is no better feeling watching the snow disappear and lakes thaw. It's the time when we finally get to put the heavy sweaters, wool socks, and parkas away. We begin to pull out our light weight jackets, zip-up hoodies, t-shirts and shorts.
The best brand for spring fashion is Saturdays Surf NYC. Below are some of my top choices.
J. Crew had their Fall/Winter 14' fashion show in New York City a couple nights ago, and once again they killed it.
Here are some of my favorite looks.
While I continue to stare out my window, a cup of coffee in my hands wondering if the mounds of snow will ever disappear all I can think about is,
"What will be my first outfit of spring?"
I plan it looking a little something like this.
Saturday morning special. I hope you all have a safe and warm weekend.
We all move at our own speed.
I live in Minnesota but was born in Seattle. I occasionally hang out at a Seattle based company and my favorite NBA player was drafted by a Super Sonic.
Tonight I cheer for the Seahawks.
Its hard to believe that as humans we don't try new things. We become comfortable with what is known and what we like. But me I love trying new things especially beer. If these wonderful micro brewers continue creating interesting beers, I will continue to line them up in-front of me, till I've tried them all.
Knowing I love beer my wonderful sister-in-law and brother-in-law gave me the gift of beer. Every month a case of 12 beers gets delivered to the Stewart James studio. Six beers from each micro brewer with two different flavors creating four different types of beer to taste!
So let me introduce you to a couple new Brewing Companies.
- Mustang Brewing Co. (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)
- Route 66 American Lager
- Winter Lager
- Smuttynose Brewing Co. (Portsmouth, New Hampshire)
- FinestKind IPA
- Robust Porter

Joe devoted his life to becoming the best baseball player ever to play the game. He learned to love the game of baseball at a young age playing day and night with his friends. As he grew older he studied the gamed, watched pitchers and learned pitches, when taking batting practice he stood in there with a purpose. Joe DiMaggio was known for being pure, graceful and fluid on the field and his style off the field was the same way.
A true American man, well tailored, and confident.
